Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,
Welcome back to Term 3, I trust you have all managed to keep warm and enjoy some family time over the break. We all look forward to welcoming the students back to school tomorrow in their full school uniform. The teachers are spending today doing 'Supporting Anxious Little Minds’ training facilitated by Georgina Manning the director of ‘Wellbeing For Kids Pty. Ltd’. Georgina delivered a parent seminar in Week 10 and shared the resources from the training which we pushed out through COMPASS to all families. Along with this training, staff are also participating in an introductory session about ‘The Resilience Project’, learning strategies for supporting wellbeing. Mrs Phillips, Mrs Spackman and Miss McDonald kindly led this session sharing their knowledge gained from Professional Learning they attended in Sydney earlier in the year. As a school we are committed to getting ‘The Resilience Project’ fully implemented across the school in 2025. We are beginning with today’s training and will participate in further training from ‘The Resilience Project’ in the coming terms to be able to successfully implement the program and provide a valuable learning experience for our students. There will certainly be little bits that will also filter in this year to support the students as well.
There are just a few staffing changes for this term, and I would also like to inform parents that Ms Mary-Anne McKenna has made the difficult decision not to return to teaching. I am sure you will join me in thanking Ms McKenna for her work with the children at St Gregory’s and wish her all the best for the future. As was previously advised, Miss Grace Smith who took on teaching Year 4 White last term will continue teaching the class for the remainder of the year.
This term Mr Gomez has headed off on some long service leave and I congratulate Miss Kiralee Nolan who has been successful in her application to act in the Religious Education Coordinator role for the term. We are fortunate to be welcoming Miss Maddy Ferris to St Gregory’s after completing her degree and will be working two days a week in Year 5 Blue for the term. The students are very familiar with Miss Ferris as she taught in their class for 6 weeks last term alongside Miss Nolan as she completed her final placement.
I also welcome Miss Bree Stumbles back to teaching Year 6 Blue for the remainder of the year having now finished her teaching degree. I am sure the students will be excited to welcome her back after having to move off the class for much of Term 2 to complete her university placement requirements.
Last term I also shared my congratulations to Mrs Anna Van Aaken who has taken on the permanent role of Coordinator commencing this term. Mrs Kylie Munn will take on Teaching Year 1 Silver every Thursday and Friday commencing this week. Mrs Munn will also take on teaching the Kinder and Year 1 student sport commencing this week. We are very fortunate to be able to welcome Mrs Munn to St Gregory’s with her experience and passion for teaching, she is sure to quickly become a familiar part of our community.
Dear Lord,
As we commence Term 3 make us ready and attentive to hear your word.
We give thanks for the gift of being able to rise each day with the assurance that you always walk with us.
We give thanks for the gifts of creativity and uniqueness of all in the St Gregory’s community.
Please help us all to put all our gifts to good use.
May our school be a place where we love to learn and where we learn to love,
A place where everyone is respected and valued and a place where kindness prevails.
We ask all this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Have a blessed week.
Tiffany Reedy
