Week 6 Term 2

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,

We have just finished the official enrolment period however if there is anyone wanting to apply, we do still take enrolments if there is availability. Anyone who has forgotten that their little one is due to start school next year please go in and complete the online application form using the following link asap to secure a place (https://enrolments.stgregsps.nsw.edu.au/nsw-schools/start).

Last week saw St Gregory’s students from Years 3 to 6 participate in the school Athletics Carnival. It turned out to be a beautiful day and the students participated enthusiastically in the various events. The students selected to move onto the Northern Region Athletics Carnival will travel to Goulburn on June 21st to compete against other students from our region. I wish them luck and know they will show great sportsmanship and represent St Gregory’s with pride.

We have exciting double baby news to share!  Congratulations to Hanna Rowcliffe and Dean on the safe arrival of their first baby, Daisy Jan on 25th May. Congratulations also to Teegan Doust & Jack on the safe arrival of their second child, Noah Hyland on 28th May. I am sure Hanna and Teegan will enjoy this precious time at home with their newborn babies.

The NSW Education Minister secured one off funding for extra mental health and wellbeing resources and initiatives for all NSW schools from the Commonwealth Government. A plan was developed earlier in the year for this Student Wellbeing Boost and one of the initiatives undertaken was a Wellbeing for Kids program that provides training for staff and parents. The staff will be undertaking training in ‘Supporting Anxious Little Minds in the Classroom’ on Monday 22nd July. A parent seminar ‘Peaceful Parents, Peaceful Kids’ has also been organised for our parent community. The seminar will be held online (Launch Meeting - Zoom) on Tuesday 2nd July at 7pm and will be interactive so parents are asked to have their camera’s on. Please pop this date into your diaries so you can join in this wonderful opportunity. A flyer outlining the seminar is included in this newsletter if you would like to look at an outline of the seminar.

It is coming close to reporting time again and in line with the Catholic Education communication shared in Term 1 the reports for semester one do not contain comments. We really value being able to meet with every parent to discuss the children’s learning and how to support them moving forward. In the next few weeks interview timetables for Week 10 will be shared for you to book in a time for your parent teacher meetings. Please make this a priority as we would love to meet with every parent. If the dates/times do not work for you please contact your child’s teacher to organise an alternative.

Last week we participated in reconciliation week activities with the 2024 theme being “Now more than ever”. Miss Nolan and Mrs Jolley prepared some really worthwhile activities to help raise the children’s awareness and spread the message of reconciliation. With this in mind I pray:

Loving God,
We pray for reconciliation in our nation.

Give us your strength and grace to forgive, accept and love one another, just as you love, forgive and accept us.

Teach us to respect all cultures and to care for our land and waters,

so that together we may build a brighter future for all.

Amen.

Have a blessed week.
