Term 3 Week 4

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,

We have issued a ‘Tell Them From Me’ survey and you all should have received a link inviting you to participate. This survey provides us with valuable feedback which we seriously consider and use to drive our annual improvement plan. We would love to have all parents provide us with feedback, both positive and/or negative so please take some time to complete the survey if you can. The data is collated by an external provider and it is totally anonymous, we are provided with collated data only. If you are having any issues getting into the survey or getting a login, please contact Kate McManus-Green.

There is an upcoming free event with the ‘Bluey’ creator, Joe Brumm. It will be held at Merici College on Wednesday 11 September. The event is brought to you by the Catholic School Parents Canberra and Goulburn with the support of Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn and aims to bring families from across the Archdiocese together, to listen to Joe talk about why he thinks Bluey has been such a success and the important role parents play in their child’s learning and development. Full details are on the flyer which can be found in this newsletter. Registrations can be made through https://events.humanitix.com/a-bluey-perspective. There is an option through the registration link for live streaming for parents and carers who are unable to attend in person. It sounds like it will be an interesting event if you are able to make it along.

We are looking forward to book week coming up in Week 5. The students particularly love the Book Character dress up day and parades. This year the Macquoid Street students will dress up on Wednesday August 21st and Lowe Street Students on Friday August 23rd. Both parades will take place first thing in the morning after the students drop their bags into class and rolls are marked. We welcome parents to join us if you can to watch the Book Week parades.

A reminder that the correct school uniform is required to be worn.  For boys this is long grey school pants, a long sleeved light blue shirt, school tie, grey socks, black school shoes and the school jumper. For girls this is navy slacks or navy serge tunic, a long sleeved light blue shirt, school tie, navy socks or stockings, black shoes and the school jumper.  Sports days the navy tracksuit with gold stripe and gold polo shirt is to be worn or year 6 can wear their school leadership shirt with the tracksuit on sports days, with white ankle socks and white runners.

If students want to wear shorts on their sports days please ensure they are the plain navy school sports shorts.

This week we celebrate the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Thursday 15th August. This day commemorates the Catholic belief that the body and soul of the immaculate Mary, mother of God were assumed into heaven.

Let us pray together…

Father in heaven,
all creation rightly gives you praise,
for all life and all holiness come from you.
In the plan of your wisdom
she who bore the Christ in her womb
was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness
and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Please continue to prayer for those in our community who are sick and their families who care for them. We also pray for all the Year 6 students who are preparing for their Confirmation in September, that they will truly experience God’s grace and guidance in their lives.

Have a blessed week.
